New Filipino-owned wellness hub in Birmingham to focus on community and connection

A new Filipino-owned wellness centre is set to open its doors in Birmingham, bringing together beauty, wellbeing and the spirit of Filipino hospitality under one roof.

Siesta Wellness Hub will open its doors to clients on 24 October at 100 Morville Street, with Birmingham’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Zaker Choudhry, leading the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The centre offers beauty and aesthetics services, treatment rooms, an infrared sauna and relaxation spaces, but its founders say the vision goes beyond wellness treatments.

For founder Celeste Garghan, Siesta was born from a desire to create a space where people can slow down, reconnect and build meaningful relationships.

“Siesta was created around the belief that everyone deserves a space to slow down and feel their best. We want to bring people together through self-care, new experiences and meaningful connections.”

The emphasis on connection comes at a time when loneliness and social isolation remain growing concerns across the UK. The latest Birmingham and Solihull Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment found that nearly 9% of Birmingham residents reported experiencing frequent loneliness, higher than the national average of 6.8%. The report highlights the importance of creating spaces where people can meet, connect and support one another.

Community and Events Coordinator Loralie Canale says visitors can expect the warmth and generosity that many associate with Filipino culture.

“With our owners’ Filipino roots, guests can expect the warmth, generosity and genuine hospitality the Philippines is known for, alongside experiences dedicated to beauty, relaxation and wellbeing.”

For many Filipinos in the UK, community spaces often emerge from shared experiences, whether through churches, cultural organisations, support groups or businesses. Siesta Wellness Hub hopes to become part of that network by hosting wellness activities, collaborating with independent practitioners and creating opportunities for people to come together.

The opening event will give guests an opportunity to tour the facilities, meet local practitioners and community members, and learn more about the hub’s plans for the future.

As Filipino-owned businesses continue to grow across the country, initiatives such as Siesta Wellness Hub demonstrate how entrepreneurship can also contribute to community wellbeing, creating spaces that nurture not only physical health but also connection and belonging.
