Jake Jarman, Filipino-British gymnast prodigy, made history for winning Britain’s first gold in the vault competition on Sunday, 8th October, at the World Gymnastics Competition.

Jarman, 21, is also the 2022 European champion in the team and vault events, becoming the first British male to win gold on vault.

Winning an overall score of 15.05, he thanked everyone who have supported him on his Instagram account. “Still a bit lost for words but I just want to thank everyone who supported me especially my family, close friends and also my personal coach,” he wrote.

Jake Jarman thanks supporters, family, friends and his coach on Instagram after winning the World Championship.

Jarman’s mother is a Filipina from Cebu in the southern Philippines and his father is British. The world champion gymnast is from Peterborough, East England.

When he debuted in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Jarman won four gold medals. He is the first English male gymnast to achieve this feat at a single Commonwealth Games. He is set to compete at Paris Olympics next year as part of the GB team.
